Residents in the three wards will see fewer pothole repairs and delayed curb replacements through at least the end of 2027. City records list 14 road segments in those wards that had been scheduled for resurfacing this fiscal year. Households approved for the new subsidies will receive monthly payments covering up to 40 percent of rent, with the first payments projected to begin in October. Families already on the housing waitlist will receive priority processing under the updated eligibility rules.
The same budget document allocates an additional $920,000 to expand the Annex Library branch hours and adds two part-time positions at the community health clinic. These increases are funded by a separate one-time transfer from general reserves rather than the road account.
Next steps for implementation
City staff will issue the first round of housing applications by August 15. Road crews have been instructed to complete only emergency repairs in the affected wards until new capital funding is identified in the 2027 budget cycle.
